I am so glad that you have taken some time to learn just what First Baptist Church of Mt. Vernon (FBCMV) is all about. So, let me tell you some things that I think you would like to know.
We are a historic church. Our church was founded in 1866 and the oldest building, which is now our Chapel, was completed in 1902. We value our heritage. But we also strive to be a church that is in touch with the needs of the present community. While we see our history as a meaningful foundation, we continuously seek to develop fresh, innovative ways to be a church which is relevant to the times.
Our Mission is simple: LOVE, GROW, GLOW. To learn more about our mission I would like to point you to the “Our Mission” tab located on the home page of this website.
FBCMV is a Southern Baptist church that holds to the “Baptist Faith & Message”. We are a community that seeks to practice the Word of God in every area of our lives. We want FBC to be a place where people experience God, find practical help for life, grow their families and establish life-long friendships.
Our worship time is on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. It is during this service that we desire to meet God corporately and celebrate salvation in Christ. We strive for a blended music style for all generations to enjoy. We seek to respond positively to Bible messages that teach us to LOVE, GROW & GLOW as Jesus taught. Our hope is to obey Him, and properly represent Him to the world.
At FBCMV, children and students are important to us. Our AWANA Ministry for children is filled with fun and great teaching. Over 80 children attend our AWANA ministry, which is held every Wednesday night at 5:45p.m. during the school year. Our Student Ministry meets every Wednesday night at 6pm and has around around 60 to 80 in attendance. Wednesday night Dinner is available for all from 5pm – 5:45pm.

Thank you for taking the time to review our web site and I hope to meet you this Sunday!
